Chilton Furniture (www.chiltons.com) is pleased to announce that The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies awarded the Nautilus Lounge Chair a 2020 GOOD DESIGN® Award.
The GOOD DESIGN® award, founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, remains the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide.
The Nautilus Lounge Chair, designed for Chilton Furniture Co. by Adam Rogers, an independent furniture designer with an office in Portland, ME, has brought Chilton Furniture its first, and hopefully not last, international design award. The chair is built locally in Lewiston by Square Manufacturing Co. for Chilton Furniture.
The emphasis of the award program is on quality design of the highest form, function, and aesthetics. Submissions to the program are judged by a jury of distinguished design professionals and leading industry specialists and design press on criteria established in the original 1950 program for the highest aesthetic in terms of innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, and energy efficiency, and sensitivity to the environment.
The Nautilus Lounge Chair is located in all three Chilton showrooms including their newest location in Portland at 100 Commercial Street and open every day, from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
