The Chilton Spindle Rocker showcases the elegance in strength of Maine craftsmanship. The legs are bored through the seat, and secured with mortise and tenon joinery. The arms are treated in a similar fashion. Designed and built in Maine. Shown in cherry.

Solid wood construction.
Weight capacity of up to 250lbs. 
Runners and arms fastened with split wedge tenons. Legs also have hardwood supports attached to the bottom of the seat.

Nationwide Delivery

Chilton provides nationwide "white glove" service for all in-home deliveries. This means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped and transported to your home by our delivery team or one of our partners specializing in fine furniture delivery. Your furniture will be carried into your home, assembled if necessary, and placed where you direct. All blankets will be removed from your home. 

Once your order has been placed, the first contact you will receive from us will be to let you know that your order is complete. At that time, we will reach out to collect any balance owed. If your order is paid in full at the time of sale, the first time you hear from us will be to schedule your delivery.

Note that we will keep you informed of any delays we discover with your order along the way.

When your order is ready for delivery, Chilton or one of our partners will reach out to you via email to schedule a time for you to receive your furniture. Please keep in mind that our delivery vehicles must travel nationwide and may not be in your area as frequently as common carriers. For this reason, please make every effort to be available to receive your furniture on the first date offered. Should you need a different date, your delivery may be delayed by several weeks.  

If at any point in the delivery process you would like to speak directly with someone about the delivery of your furniture, please email our in-house Delivery Coordinator at wanda@chiltons.com and you will be contacted within 24 hours.

Please note that our Shaker Stove is sent via common carrier, and we would recommend that customers have their installer or a local moving service available to help them move the stove inside to where it is to be installed.  Smaller items such as Home Accessories are typically shipped via common carrier such as UPS.

Lead Times

Although some orders can be filled from existing inventory, most of our furniture is built to order. Chilton works with a handful of independent workshops whose build times are often changing with efficiency evolutions and demand. We maintain accurate build times specific to each furniture design on each respective product's page.

Delivery lead times in the area surrounding our showrooms, including Southern Maine, Southern New Hampshire and Eastern Massachusetts, typically range between one (1) and three (3) weeks.  All other locations in New England range from three (3) to five (5) weeks.  Delivery lead times outside of New England typically range from four (4) to nine (9) weeks.  We use driving teams specially trained in white glove furniture delivery, and they run in regular routes across New England and the country, so the exact delivery time will depend on when they are scheduled to be passing by your specific area. Please call with any inquiries. 

Although we do not guarantee build times, we will always provide our best estimates at the time of sale or upon inquiry.  For questions about delivery times for a particular order, please call us during business hours at 207-883-3366 for orders placed at our Portland showroom, or 207-865-4308 for orders placed at our Freeport showroom or on our website.

Preparing for and Receiving Your Delivery

Prior to delivery, identify where you would like your furniture to go, taking measurements as necessary. Identify the most logical entry point to carry the furniture into your home and the easiest path to carry it to where you would like it placed.  This will ensure a smooth delivery process. 

Once your furniture has been unwrapped, please inspect it carefully.  You will be asked to sign a Delivery Receipt acknowledging the receipt and inspection of the merchandise with no damage to the goods or to the premises upon completion of delivery, unless otherwise noted. It is very unusual for blanket wrapped furniture to be damaged, but in the event your furniture has been damaged, please note it on your Delivery Receipt and call Chilton immediately at 207-883-3366 so that we can assess and determine the best solution for you.  You may be asked to email digital photos to help us determine the best course of action.

Non-Standard Deliveries

Standard white glove delivery includes carrying your furniture a reasonable distance (typically under 100 feet) from the delivery vehicle, into your home, and into the room in which you intend to use it, either on a ground floor or up one flight of stairs.  Non-standard deliveries include deliveries in which the delivery vehicle cannot get within 100 feet of an access point into your home, or deliveries requiring furniture to be carried up two or more flights of stairs.  If you anticipate the need for these services, please call ahead to Chilton at 207-883-3366 so that we can alert the delivery team and let you know whether additional charges will apply.  

Services such as attaching items to walls or ceilings, or hoisting furniture through windows or over balconies will likely need to be arranged through a local contractor.  Please call us at 207-883-3366 if you have any questions about non-standard delivery requests. Please note that Chilton's delivery services do not remove used mattresses.

All deliveries are made by a 36' commercial truck, and delivery charges assume that drivers are able to navigate the truck up the driveway to close proximity to your house.  If you have any special conditions that would prevent a 36' commercial truck from fitting in your driveway, please call us at 207-883-3366.  Depending on the circumstances, it is possible that our delivery company will need to rent a smaller van to get close enough to your home to complete the delivery and this must be scheduled in advance for an additional charge.

Island Deliveries

For island deliveries that require ferry service, our delivery fee only covers delivery to the ferry terminal or an island delivery service on the mainland. It is the customer's responsibility to make arrangements with the ferry service or island delivery company for in-home delivery.  For online orders please fill in ferry address or island delivery company address in the delivery address fields.

Delivery Charges

Chilton offers nation-wide white glove delivery service, which means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped, transported to your home, carried inside, and assembled, as needed. Your charge is a flat rate based upon delivery distance from Maine, and includes an unlimited number of pieces (a particularly good value for larger orders). For single item orders of smaller pieces, please call to inquire whether common carrier shipping is available. Delivery times can take between two and nine weeks, depending on location and distance from our Maine warehouse. For deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, or otherwise outside of the continental US, please call our showrooms to inquire about delivery options.

Delivery Costs for Home Accessories

When home accessories are ordered along with furniture, the delivery expense is included in the cost of the furniture delivery. When ordered separately, the delivery cost for smaller home accessories is $30 per item. For larger home accessories ordered separately that can be shipped by common carrier, please call for a quote.

Customer Pickup

At Chilton, all furniture is available for pick up at our Freeport store or at our Lewiston warehouse for no additional charge. Please select your desired pickup location during checkout. For questions about your pickup, you may call any of our showrooms.

Preparation

Note that most furniture from Chilton is unwrapped and unboxed. Please bring blankets, padding and other appropriate protection for use when transporting your new furniture. We can arrange to loan you padded blankets for a refundable deposit of $30 per blanket. If you would like to use Chilton padded blankets, please call ahead to ensure availability.

If you are not able to accept delivery or pick up right away, your completed order may be stored for up to six months, free of charge. If necessary, your order can be stored beyond the initial six month period for a fee of $50/month.

Changes to Pickup Location

Please note that, unless the initial pickup location selected is our Lewiston warehouse, there will be an additional fee of $50 should you decide to change the pick up location or select white glove delivery at a later date.
